How 2 get a "countdown ticker" in an Iframe to refresh repeatedly w/o making the Back butt

I have a countdown ticker at the bottom of the screen in an Iframe that I want to refresh every 5 seconds or so to keep it up-to-date. However the problem is that by using an html auto refresh script it makes the Back button of IE useless because upon hitting the back button the main page stays as it is and only the Iframe refreshes. you have to hit the back button the same number of times that the Iframe had autorefreshed to cause the main page to go back to the previous page.

Can anybody help me with this? This is the only irritant preventing me from being able to publish my website. (I use Microsoft Frontpage)

I think you might want Javascript for this. It will be continuous with no refreshing.

If you do use javascript this page may help: http://www.askdavetaylor.com/how_do_i_cr...

Update:

Maybe refreshing by javascript instead might be your answer.

window.location.reload();

In Firefox if I use css there is a large gap between p tags, how to make it like IE?

Hello. I want to make one of my pages look the same in IE and FF. There is something wrong with FF, consider these tags:

%26lt;p id="h1"%26gt;Hi, I'm a title%26lt;/p%26gt;

%26lt;p class="firstParags"%26gt;Hi, I'm some text%26lt;/p%26gt;

The CSS for this is:

#h1 {

font-weight:bold;

font-family: "Bell Gothic Std Black", Georgia, sans-serif;

font-size: 24pt;

}

.firstParags {

font-family: Constantia, "Lucida Sans Unicode", serif;

font-size: 13.5pt;

text-align: justify;

}

The problem is that there is a larger gap below the first paragraph in FF. Why is it like this and how do I fix it?

Different browsers often have different default spacings. I always put this at the top of my stylesheets so that things will at least start out even:

* {

margin: 0;

padding: 0;

}

If that doesn't help, then more information is needed. A link to an example would help.

first off, we can not tell these things with just that code.

and second off,

uh

play around with the code

then, use the working code for ie, and place a link rel inside this comment:

%26lt;!--[if IE]%26gt;

%26lt;![Endif]--%26gt;
actually, it is not ff that is broken, it is ie that is not standards compliant.

google "ie css broken" and you will see just th etip of the iceberg....

I suggest starting at quirksmode (or .org I forget). If you don't know what quirksmode is in your browser, you will never get ie to work right with xhtml and css.

but that is just the start.

you are not going to like going down this rabbit hole - I assure you - no one does.

I downloaded Mozilla Firefox and I am trying to open it but I can't, I am currently using IE?

download firefox as a file, ie select save rather than install

then install it from the file.

when it asks to put icon on the desktop let it do it.

I am a heavy firefox user (the browser) and rarely, except on VERY rare occassions that I must use I

Now, no one else uses my computer (I take it with me in my locked case where ever I go.) Now why is is it that now my IE has a bunch of adware/spyware in the form of these mysterious toolbars. How could I have ever downloaded that? I don't even fall for all the garbage that those hackers try to sell you. Free emoticons... yeah, at who's final price? Mine. Anyone willing to step up to the plate :)?

They probably tagged along with a legitimate piece of software you installed. Though, legitimate is stretching that word if they allow something to be installed which probably went out and got more junk to install.

Is the Aifel Tower there as a piece of art, or one day did it have a purpose?

day? ie. look out tower..?windows xp pro

When it was built in 1889, the Eiffel Tower was the tallest monument in the world. Gustave Eiffel designed it for the International Exhibition of Paris of 1889, a big show that marked the 100-year anniversary of the French Revolution. This magnificent structure was meant to celebrate the great engineering and scientific achievements of the time. Not everyone was happy about it -- some important Parisians protested the construction. The Eiffel Tower was nearly torn down in 1909, but the antenna on top was useful for telegraphy. Later, the 1,062-feet-high tower was used for radio and television transmissions. In 1930, New York's Chrysler Building topped it in height, but the Eiffel Tower is still a famous symbol of France.

Interesting, isn't it? =) Please check out the links in the Sources sections if you want more information.

he Eiffel Tower (pronounced /?a?f?l 'ta??/; French: La Tour Eiffel, pronounced /tu? ?f?l/) is an iron tower built on the Champ de Mars beside the River Seine in Paris. It is the tallest structure in Paris and among the most recognized symbols in the world. Named after its designer, engineer Gustave Eiffel, it is a premier tourist destination.
It's spelt Eiffel.
The tower was originally built as an exhibit at the Paris World's Fair. At the time, Parisians considered it an eye-sore, and were planning to tear it down after the fair. I suspect now it's just a tourist attraction and cell phone tower.
My dear, fyi it is the Eiffel Tower.

I am certain you will find the answers to ALL your questions

at this link. The answer you want is a few pages down on the link page... enjoy! It is very interesting.

it's the Eiffel Tower, sweetie
the Eiffel tower is a landmark in Paris ,France....if you want to know a little bit more read the link..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eiffel_Towe...
It was built in 1985 for the James Bond movie "A View to A Kill" so that Roger Moore could have a fight with Grace Jones on it.
There was a French engineer by name of Eiffel who lived in the mid to late 1800s. He had this crazy idea that steel was such a strong building material that it was possible to build really really tall buildings made out of steel skeletons. So for the World's Fair that was held in Paris, France in 1889, he had the Eiffel tower built, to prove to the world that skyscrapers were possible. And this worked out fine until September 11, 2001 when a bunch of people decided that maybe skyscrapers aren't all that great after all.
it was built as an exhibit at the world fair held in Paris
eiffel tower was built to commorate the great exhibition.
You have enough answers, but I want to say you that the same Gustave Eiffel was the designer of the armature of the Statue of Liberty from New York harbor.

Is there a law to forbid one to name their child, or change their own name to a curse (ie 4-letter)

Is there a law to forbid one to name their childs, or change their own name, to a curse (ie 4-letter) word?

Supposing there has been a time where someone such as royalty (king/pharaoh) had decreed a name taboo or forbidden for whatever reason, does anyone know of any names that are now extinct?...And I mean a universal name, and not one specific to one nationality.

Your child called d!ck, sh!t or c*nt wouldn't be too happy if it was within the law. I'd recommend parentcide.

Is there a law to forbid one to name their child, or change their own name to a curse (ie 4-letter) word?windows firewall internet explorer

You have the right to call yourself any name you want and your child
My Grandad used to call me c0ck all the time...

Every time I saw him he would always say "alright c0ck how you doing?"
I'm not sure about naming a baby, but I know that to legally change your name, it requires the approval of a judge. And there are several documented cases where petitions to have a name changed were denied. In particular, back in the 1990 there was a case in California were this black guy unsuccessfully tried to change his name to "Mr. N......"
Change your name to Question Mark.
there is no law

which name were you thnking of?
In the UK there is no law but if the registrar or judge feels it outrages public decency or is generally considered offensive they can refuse.

A lot of countries have approved lists of names and parents have to chose from these.
Was there not a case somewhere a few years back where a couple had to change their childs name cause they wanted to call it Adolf Hitler? I seem to remember it happening but the law stepped in. It might have been somewhere in Europe.

any email you get off someone you know

enter it in to your mail directory..
In Yahoo Mail, you can add the contact information to your Address Book. When sending an email you will just need to start typing their name, and a drop list of names beginning with what you typed will appear for you to select from.

The Recipient information will display their name and the email address will be in parenthesis.
Put your own address in the TO line and everyone else into BCC. Their address---as well as their name----is hidden from view.

The only thing showing, will be your name.

You'll get a copy of the mail-------just delete it.
